Soaking Up Sun in Los Angeles

The weather in Los Angeles is a proverb. In fact, as residents of Southern California, not to boast of having a time – only mild sunny days during the year. It is not quite right – in January and February will see the field its fair share of rain – but the pleasant climate of Los Angeles and the endless list of attractions this great city attracted visitors for decades.

It is difficult to talk about Hollywood of course, and what kind of stargazing is part of cultural tourism. A visit to the fashion, the Kodak Theatre, where many movies are in the first. If you want to see wildlife, whale watching tours are also very popular. A cruise on the waters off the coast of Newport Beach or a visit to Los Angeles Zoo on the agenda of many attractions for its visitors. Families with children can enjoy a visit to LEGOLAND California, California Science Center, or Universal Studios Hollywood.

New Urbanism – A Critique of Disney’s Celebration – Social Elitism, Developer’s Practicality-Profit

Celebration: American Stepford or Utopia?

“The building of cities is one of the greatest achievements of man. The shape of the city has always been and always will be an indicator of the state of civilization, be ruthless.” Edmund Bacon, 1967

The art of construction of the city were thrown after the loss and for more than half a century in favor of economic development and the band decentralized urban sprawl (the stepchildren of the modern era), was in several “New Town lifted” Cultural projects across the country. Mer, Newport, Windsor (all on the east coast) and now the celebration of Disney have the hearts and wallets of Americans looking for similarities between the waste infrastructure and the social isolation of the suburbs and cleverly made the higher density, harsh stereotype / crime in the big city. A questionable (perhaps) bonus is that somewhere in this in-between could be a new found sense of fellowship.

Fly millions of Americans in our sterile suburbs have a human need: the experience of a balanced social education / environment (our European counterparts enjoy on a daily basis). The isolationist policy of evasion and have a root in our psyche. Throughout our lives, minimal interaction on a daily basis for children and adults with a cross section of people of different ages with cultural, ethnic, economic and limit our world view and understanding of each other. The central themes of community, democratic participation and personal responsibility are ignored, perhaps because they touch the deep social and philosophical themes that are bypassed by the American consciousness continues.

As for New Urbanism, that most Americans do not know whether it is something you in the butt. Beginning with the loss (a form of moral corruption: the destruction of the protected wetlands, flora and fauna, in exchange for $ 15 million) does not improve the subdivision Disney typical in many ways. A Celebration, people will go to their jobs in the reduction of employees in the course of the CBD in. The result is the pollution as a car more than ever the more so because the entire mixed-use higher density. And parks are often a by-product of the lots that tight improvements over the monotony of the typical subdivision, no doubt.

Celebration is more controlled and lack of social conscience. It is elitist: glosses spice social inequalities. There is no indication of individual contributions from citizens and it is only the hands of property (homeowners association) changes daily, and Disney are legally immune. Totalitarian control, as in Haussmann in Paris under Napoleon III, which seems the only way for Americans to be found a little utopia. The abandonment of the democratic process is a compromise agreed to secure the peace (see ethnic, social, economic systems). Improve Lamentable History of modern planning and zoning does not initially on the quality of human life, has been a disinfectant, a healthy social and ecological mystery where the only winners are bureaucrats and corporate developers.

Discovering Orlando’s Historic Downtown Neighbourhoods and Parks

Downtown Orlando offers a welcome break from the purpose-built areas in the southwest of the city, which were created solely to accommodate tourists. In fact, most areas of the historic downtown are beautiful, offer a wide variety of architecture, and give you a sense of community where regular people live and work.

Just round the inner city are a number of beautiful areas that are suitable for it, even to the exploration on foot. Some of these roads are paved, making it the perfect destination for a stroll in the neighborhood.

After visiting Loch Haven Park, on this gray and rainy, we decided to south, drive our fleet and explore some of the city on foot. We parked in Lake Cherokee Park, went around the lake and enjoy the upscale architecture and wildlife of the lake to admire.

Bird lovers can be seen on a variety of water birds in the middle of town and we were watching a water bird as it sat quietly and then catapulted its head forward to catch winged prey, all within a split second …

That day was foggy from the atmosphere a little mysterious, with Spanish moss covered oak. You could almost see the fog drifting across the lake. One of the most interesting features of Orlando are the lakes, more than 300 of them, which are found throughout the city, and many of them are equipped with facilities and public parks.

We have on Lake Cherokee Lake Lucerne, which is just south of downtown Orlando. Several fountains adorn the middle of the lake, and you get a perfect view of the architecture of downtown Orlando.

Orlando has to offer a surprisingly large number of public parks with special facilities, recreational opportunities for residents and tourists. With the support of the City of Orlando website, I have a list of some of the special outdoor public space, Orlando has to offer together. These places include a golf course very cheap price, Loch Haven Park – Orlando center of culture and science, the Dickson Azalea Park, a variety of wetlands, an ecology center, camping and much more. In a word, public spaces that offer free or inexpensive recreational and educational opportunities:

Cherokee Lake is a park of 3.8 hectares, bounded by the picturesque Lake Cherokee Historic district, a residential area surrounded by the architecture of almost all the important periods in the history of Orlando.

Lake Eola Park is a popular destination in the city, with many people, the beautiful surroundings to enjoy lunch or evening walk. The walkway around the lake is 0.9 miles long, making it easy for visitors to keep track of their walking or running distances. Other activities available to park visitors include renting ($ 10 for ½ hour) swan-shaped paddle boats to feed the swans and other wild birds that inhabit the park, paddled around the lake on a romantic gondola cruise (www.gondola.com) See a concert or a theater performance at the Walt Disney Amphitheater, watching the children play on the playground, have a bite to eat on the terrace overlooking the lake or relax Eola amid beautiful flower beds and a spectacular view over the rooftops of Orlando. » Read more..
